Suffering from Heel Pain?

Although there could be many reasons for heel pain, one of them could be Plantar Fasciitis.

Plantar Fasciitis is a condition that can occur when the plantar fascia becomes inflamed.

This can occur due to increases in activity levels, type of footwear worn, walking or running on uneven surfaces or carrying additional weight. Symptoms may include heel pain, stiffness and aching. The plantar fascia is a thick, fibrous connective tissue that runs along the sole of your foot, from your heel to the base of your toes.

It supports the arch of your foot and absorbs shock during activity.Usually Plantar Fasciitis is a self-limiting condition and symptoms should improve over time. Self management strategies include icing the area to reduce pain and stretching the lower limbs to reduce tightness.

However, sometimes symptoms may be severe and disrupt daily activities.

Physiotherapy treatments including soft tissue release, stretching and tailored strengthening programmes for the lower limbs may help to relieve symptoms and optimise recovery.

In addition, supportive footwear combined with custom orthotics may help soothe discomfort and allow for a smoother return to activity.

Does that sound like your foot pain?
